Black Mountain and Johnson City
Seems like my gigs at White Horse, Black Mountain (Black Mountain, NC) and The Acoustic Coffee House in Johnson City, TN is going to be quite the happening. At least if you read the local press. Asheville’s Citizen Times named me “Hot Pick” for Friday April 20th and Timesnews.net and A! Magazine for the arts wrote about my gigs in Johnson City, TN for Saturday April 21st!
I hope to see you all there!
Dreaming in Holly Springs
Last night I had the great experience to play at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. I was invited by The Swedish Consulate of Raleigh, SACC and SWEA and the night was a total hit. Holly Springs Cultural Center is a beautiful building and it’s always a treat to get to play in a theatre environment, built for performances. (Check out all the pictures from the concert here)
After the gig the local restaurant My Way Tavern treated us to a great dinner so that was really awesome! If you ever go there I recommend you try the meatloaf! Yum!
I hope to be able to come back to Holly Springs in the future! Tonight (April 20th) another great venue is awaiting us in Black Mountain, NC. I really look forward to playing at White Horse, Black Mountain and hope to see you there!

“A thing of spectral acoustic beauty”
I’m tracking my footprints, or rather tire tracks, back towards the east coast and will be re-visiting a few of my favorite concert venues and exploring a couple of new ones along the way. So it’s extra nice when Connect Savannah gives me this “welcome back” in their latest edition:
Sofia Talvik’s newest collection of songs, The Owls Are Not What They Seem, sounds like it could have been recorded in the early 1970s, when singer/songwriters were prized for their eccentricity, and the striking colors they brought as individuals to commercially-viable acoustic balladry. (…)
On this album, she is clearly in her element. It is a thing of spectral acoustic beauty, and this Monday night performance is highly recommended by us jaded fools here at Connect.
Here’s some upcoming dates on my tour that you don’t want to miss, visit my gig page for all listings:
Alabama: The Gnu’s Room April 7th (Auburn)
Georgia: The Sentient Bean April 9th (Savannah)
North Carolina: Bottega Art Bar and Gallery April 12 (Wilmington)
Playhouse 211 April 13 (Southport, buy tickets here)
Radio in MS
I just did a couple of radio shows in the heart of sunny Mississippi. College station Souther Miss Today invited me to play a few songs and tell their listeners about the tour and Jackson station WLEZ fm had me play a song in the studio too. Here’s some pics and a little video from my performances there. Unfortunately there’s no online archive to listen to, but tune in to the stations anyway to enjoy good music and more.
April artist of the month!
LA music blog Hotel Cafe Junkie (for you who don’t know this Hotel Cafe is a singer/songwriter concert series and one of the best music venues in LA) just listed me as their April artist of the month.
Hotel Cafe Junkie likes good original music and, although not affiliated with the actual venue, I’m super excited to be appointed artist of the month! Thank you!
Live video #2 from TOANWTS
Here’s the second live video of the songs from my new album TOANWTS (The Owls Are Not What They Seem). During my US tour “Drivin’ & Dreaming” I’m going to record all the songs from the album and release on youtube as a live video album called “TOANWTS Acoustic Video Album”. This song is called “The Garden” and was recorded at the Stavinoha’s beach shack in Surfside, TX, that they let us stay at as a mini vacation to get some rest after our RV broke down in Austin, TX after SXSW. You can see and hear the ocean in the background. I wish I would have had more time to just hang out and relax there. Thanks to John and Edie for letting us stay!
You can listen to the whole album here!
